Rio de Janeiro, September 13th, 2022

Deep Seed Solutions is proud to announce a contract signature for a Joint Industry Research and Technology Development Project named i-Concept JIP – Phase 2 with Repsol Sinopec Brasil, Shell Brasil Petróleo LTDA, and other Energy Companies.

Aligned with the strategic objectives of efficiency of capital projects, low carbon economy, and energy transition, the i-Concept JIP Phase 2 focuses on the development of applied computational modules to generate and rank a wide variety of offshore conceptual systems, addressing technologies to reduce carbon emissions and creating the foundations to simulate hybrid systems on the expert system FLOCO®, combining oil and gas production assets and green energy generation offshore systems.

As major work packages, the i-Concept JIP Phase 2 will address: i) Subsea Factory and Advanced Subsea Processing Systems; ii) Enhanced Oil Recovery by Injection of CO2; iii) Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS); and iv) Energy Transition.

In addition to the efficiency of the capital project already available through the Expert System FLOCO®, the i-Concept JIP Phase 2 will allow the Energy Companies to consider, still in the conceptual engineering phase, technologies to reduce their offshore carbon emissions, to support their challenging objectives of Net-Zero Emissions in a medium-term.

Besides the structured evaluation of an extensive range of archetypes and concepts that prioritizes economic indicators, i-Concept JIP Phase 2 extends the evaluation of the impact of emerging technologies when integrated with a range of different low-carbon energy systems in an offshore environment.” – Says Marcelo Andreotti, Research Manager in Production and Operations Facilities at Repsol Sinopec Brasil.
According to Diego Russo Juliano, Subsea Technology Manager at Shell Brasil Petróleo LTDA., “This i-Concept JIP Phase 2 is fully aligned with Shell Powering Progress Strategy, leveraging digital ways and R&D in our transition to Net-Zero”.

The previous phase of the i-Concept JIP project was one of the finalists for the ANP Technological Innovation Award 2020, an important event that recognizes and rewards results associated with R&D projects of interest to the oil, natural gas, and biofuels sector.

According to Leandro Basilio, CEO at Deep Seed Solutions, “It is a great satisfaction and a source of great pride for the entire team at Deep Seed Solutions to see the industry’s adoption of the technology we developed along with the Phase 1 of the i-Concept JIP and the continuation of the challenge with the Phase 2, allowing a synergic alignment of the efficiency of capital projects with the low carbon economy and the energy transition.

With the support of ANP – National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels of Brazil, the technology generated through this project will bring a great competitive advantage in the conceptual engineering process applied to the conceptual development of offshore energy provinces.

The complete list of Energy Companies supporting the i-Concept JIP Phase 2 can be found at “ANP – Painel Dinâmico de Projetos Iniciados – Regulamento Técnico nº 3/2015”, on the website of the ANP – National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels of Brazil.
